Muscle Soreness

Excessive exercise can lead to muscle soreness, but almost no one understands what happened and what methods can help.

Excessive exercise will take the body to its extreme, so sometimes you will wake up due to the pain and soreness in your body. However, almost nobody knows what has changed during exercise. Markus Klingenberg, an orthopedist and sports medicine expert from the Beta Klinik Joint Clinic in Bonn, Germany, is a co-doctor of the Olympic Committee and takes care of many athletes. Through his sharing, we were able to identify muscle problems more clearly.

What Causes Muscle Soreness?

Muscles soreness are mainly due to excessive exercise or overload.

Muscle soreness is actually a subtle damage to muscle tissue, which is composed of several different contractile elements, mainly protein structure. They tear because of excessive or improper training, and the minimal damage is in the muscle fibers. In short, when tensing muscle in an unusual way, there will be soreness. For example, when you try a new or new way of sports, it would be easy for you to feel soreness.

Another reason of soreness is muscle overload. When doing strength training, it is normal to take some excessive training, but if it’s too much, there will be harm and damage.

How Long Does Muscle Soreness Last?

Obvious pain usually come gradually after training, that is, delayed muscle soreness. Sometimes the soreness comes two days after exercise, which is related to muscle inflammation. Muscle fibers can become inflamed during reorganization and recovery, which is why taking anti-inflammatory drugs or painkillers can help with relieving the condition.

Such soreness usually takes 48-72 hours to recover, if it takes longer, it won’t be a simple muscle ache, but a more serious injury or even muscle fiber tear.

Can We Still Exercise When Having Muscle Soreness?

Unless it’s muscle bundle tear, exercise is still available. In addition, relaxation and taking a bath after exercise is helpful. Taking bath or massage can help to improve blood circulation and metabolism as much as possible, thus promoting recovery.

The nutritional suggestion of muscle soreness recovery is to have enough water. In addition, adding vitamins can also help. Drink plenty of water, eat more nuts and salmon which contains plenty of OMEGA 3 fatty acids, take dietary supplements like BCAA. All these suggestions can help with muscle recovery.

Does Laughter Lead to Muscle Soreness?

Usually, muscle pain and soreness after exercise happen in those muscles and parts that have not been trained. Basically, each muscle has a certain load, anti-fatigue ability, and when there’s overloaded, there could be pain. If you do not often laugh out loud, you may have a sore diaphragm muscle from laughing.

All in all, it’s important for people to start exercise step by step. When everything goes well, they can gradually increase the training intensity and time.
